Physical Education

The Kingswood Secondary Academy Physical Education Department is a strong team of staff with diverse talents in both teaching and learning and coaching.  The department is committed to providing an opportunity for all to develop their skills, understanding and improve their access to sporting opportunities.

In the curriculum, we make use of our fantastic facilities by teaching a range of activities that challenge students to learn and develop in a variety of ways.  We have a comprehensive extra-curricular programme offering a diverse range of after school clubs. Furthermore, we also have coaches from around the community coming in to the school to support clubs such as rugby and table tennis.

What do our students think of P.E. at Kingswood?

Four students were asked the following questions:

  • 'What do you most like about P.E.?'
  • 'What is the P.E. department like?'
  • 'What are your favourite sports?'

Here are their responses;

'I love being active and doing practical activities.'

'Very friendly and the staff are down with the kids.'

'All of P.E. but I really enjoy tennis, football and basketball.'

'Being active with friends is good and a nice break from classroom based lessons.'

'P.E. staff are very approachable and make lessons fun and exhilarating.'

'I love football, rounders’ and basketball.'

Sport in Primary Schools

The academy provides around 6 sports festivals for the local primary schools, ranging from year one to year six. We also host district competitions in athletics and football which are run by our sports leaders. This year we have introduced Energy Clubs and training for staff.
