KS4 L2 CNAT Enterprise & Marketing

Unit R067: Enterprise and marketing concepts (40% exam)

By completing this unit, learners will understand the main activities that will need to happen to support a start-up business and what the key factors are to consider when starting up a business and the characteristics of an entrepreneur. Learners will understand how and why customer segmentation is used and how to target a customer market. They will also develop an understanding of how to attract and retain customers, the techniques to use when developing products and how to investigate what makes a product viable. Learners are assessed in a 1 hour 30 minute exam.

Unit R068: Design a business proposal (30% coursework)

This unit will provide learners with the skills and knowledge to design a product proposal to meet a business challenge scenario. Learners will be able to identify a customer profile for their own product design, develop market research tools and use these to complete market research for their product. Learners will use their research outcomes to generate product design ideas, assess their strengths and weaknesses and work collaboratively with peers to gain feedback to inform final design decisions. Learners will complete financial calculations to select a pricing strategy and determine whether their proposal is viable. Learns will explain the risks associated with starting a new business and can assess of much of an impact this will have on their product proposals.

Unit R069: Market and pitch a business proposal (30% coursework)

This unit will provide learners with the skills and knowledge to create a brand identity and promotional plan for their product proposal, developed in Unit R068. They will be able to pitch their product proposal to an external audience after completing a practice pitch, and complete a review of both their pitching skills and product proposal, using their learning from this qualification, self-assessment and feedback generated.

KS5 Level 3 Cambridge Technical in Business Extended Certificate

Level 3 Cambridge Technical in Business (Extended Certificate in Business) is a course that provides learners with the opportunity through applied learning to explore the world of business and provides them with a understanding of the way that businesses and organisations operate. Students will learn by completing tasks and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, practical activities and projects, ideal for a wide range of learning styles.

The qualification consists of 5 units including 3 mandatory units and 2 optional units.

The mandatory units are:

Unit 1 The Business Environment (Exam)

In this unit, you will find out about how businesses are run and the reasons why particular decisions are made. Learners will also learn about the different types of businesses and how they are structured. They will also discover how different work together within a business functions and how businesses can respond to external factors in order to remain competitive. Learners will also find out how financial and performance information can help a business plan for success.

Unit 2 Working in Business (Exam)

This unit will provide learners with understanding and knowledge of the day-to-day roles in business. The learners will gain practical awareness of the skills that are needed by employees, understand the protocols to be followed in the work place, how to make meeting and travel arrangements, how to complete business documents, how to prioritise tasks and how to communicate effectively.

Unit 4 Customers and Communication. (Coursework)

In this unit, learners will be assessed on the purpose, methods, importance and appropriateness of different business communication. Learners will develop skills that help create a rapport with customers, and have the opportunity to practise business communication skills through presentations and practical activities.

Unit 16 Business decisions (Coursework)

In this unit students will learn about the stages of project management, and the type of skills a project manager should have. Students will also learn why they need to monitor the progress of projects as it is vital to their successful completion and implementation. Students will plan a project, and prepare a project plan. They will learn about the different planning tools available for project planning. Whilst preparing the project plan, they need to be aware of internal and external factors which might have an impact on the planning process, as well as the successful completion and implementation of a project. This unit will help students to develop the skills required to plan projects and be aware of possible obstacles that can impact on the outcome of a project.

Unit 8 Human resources (Coursework)

In this unit, the learners will be assessed on a variety of different tasks that are typical of how human resource practitioners plan for human resource requirements. They will also assess the impact of HR on business performance.
